Ok. I’m fairly desensitized to most media stories these days. But this one struck me and I can’t stop thinking about it. Apparently the FDA is close to approving using cloned animals for food. I’m just not sure that I want to eat meat from a cloned animal….. You can check out an article on this here. The most disturbing part is that there would not need to be a label indicating whether the animal was cloned or not… hmmm.

Tell us what you think about this….we’re anxious to hear your thoughts.

Well, after a whirlwind trip to Ohio last week and Christmas festivities this past weekend, it is back to work today.

We had a lot of fun helping Luke & Marla get packed up for their big move back down here.  (And of course, we had a great time meeting Peter, their new little boy.  He’s adorable and we’re so excited that we get to watch this little guy grow up.  He’ll be saying “Aunt Beth” & “Uncle Ben” in no time!)

We spent Christmas Eve at Ben’s parents house with the Platts and the Hydes.  After dinner, we each shared Christmas memories and sang Christmas songs.  It was a great way to celebrate such a beautiful gift we were given.  We spent the night and had Christmas day there.

We’ll see my family this weekend and I am excited about a good, old fashioned “Dunn Family Christmas.”  It has been a few years since most of us on my mom’s side have been together for a holiday!

Hope you all enjoyed your Christmas festivities…..  anyone care to share their favorite Christmas moment!!

Part of why we have this blog is to update people about the specifics of our ministry at NLR. We are very glad for the interest people have taken in what we do, and we are blessed and humbled by your prayers!

Our ministry at NLR is centered around letting people know about NLR. I have this little advertisement on my wall that says “Great Camp! Too bad no one knows about it”. God has blessed this place with great staff, buildings, land, programming, and servants. But if no one comes it is all for nothing. Much of my job is to make sure that people know about all the things we do at NLR and making sure they are given lots of opportunity to participate. This involves a lot of aspects from identity, to web, to video, to print, to planning. Recently I have been working on several things specific things, mostly centered around summer camp. Starting in February families will be starting to really start thinking about summer plans, so we are getting ready for that promotion season by getting videos, brochures, registration systems, follow up material, etc. in place. It’s amazing to see the impact of this place on people. Every week in staff meeting we here stories of how people are being changed by Jesus Christ during the time they spend here…and its awesome to be a part of enabling that ministry to happen!

Ben likes the lemon wedge that comes in your drink at a restaurant.

For 3 years I have said, “I’ll take your lemon if you don’t want it.” (because I always thought he didn’t like it.) And for 3 years he’s been giving it to me. But he kind of likes the lemon in his drink!

Funny the things you think you know about your spouse….only to find out….you don’t! :)

This one’s for you, Allison.  :)

We traveled south this past weekend, deep into the heart of Texas.  Dallas/Ft. Worth to be exact.  Ben’s mom came with us to help be part of a surprise scavenger hunt for her brother’s birthday. (Ben’s Uncle Charlie)  While we were in Dallas, we spent an evening with the ever-exciting Mr. Heath.  It was great to see him “in his element” and have dinner.  It was “sweet” (wink, wink).

We had a great time visiting an old friend and spending time with Ben’s extended family.

Tonight, we’re off to find the perfect Christmas tree.

And next week…we’re headed north!!
